Course Description

Following the Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines outlined in the CSA B335-15 (R2020) Standard, our on-site Forklift Operator Safety training is a comprehensive program that will provide you the opportunity to spend adequate time with a key-on and key-off practical component, equipping forklift operators with the essential skills and knowledge to ensure safe and efficient operation of class 1, 4, and 5 forklifts in the workplace.

This training will guide you through a wide range of forklift safety topics, from pre-operation inspections and machine maintenance to advanced load handling techniques, ensuring that operators are well-prepared to meet the demands of their roles while adhering to strict safety standards. Each module is crafted to emphasize critical safety points and will include practical, hands-on exercises to reinforce learning and establish hands-on experience through a supervised practical component on a live job site. 

Course Outline

Introduction to Forklift Safety

  • Overview of forklift types (class 1, 4, and 5) and uses
  • Importance of forklift safety in the workplace
  • Key safety statistics and common hazards

Pre-Operation Inspection

  • Detailed inspection checklists
  • Identifying and reporting equipment faults
  • Ensuring all safety devices are functional

Basic Operating Procedures

  • Understanding forklift controls with hands-on practice
  • Starting, maneuvering, and sa the forklift
  • Safe driving techniques
  • Understanding forklift stability and balance

Load Handling and Stability

  • Principles of load stability and center of gravity
  • Proper techniques for loading and unloading
  • Different forklift load capacity and specifications
  • Handling different types of loads and materials

Admission

  • Recommended CLB 7 (Canadian Language Benchmark)—Equivalent to IELTS 6, TOEFL 77-99 or CELPIP 7
  • Steel Toe Shoes/Boots Required
